If you’re considering using aluminium coping in your build and you’re not sure if it’ll be easy to maintain in the long run, then stay tuned – in this article we’ll be highlighting exactly how to keep your coping in tip top shape for years to come. Spoiler alert: it’s the easiest material to maintain and here’s how you do it…
Regular Cleaning
Regular cleaning is simple, but important – remove any debris, dirt, or leaves that may have accumulated on the coping surface and apply warm soapy water to the coping boards, cleaning with a soft brush or sponge. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or tools – these can cause scratches or damage to the aluminium surface. Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove any residue. If your coping needs a deeper clean, you can use a pressure washer. However, we recommended using a jet wash at 3100 PSI and nothing more!
If it doesn’t need a full on clean, regular dusting will preserve the sheen of the coping – keeping your walls looking as good as new.
Check for Damage
Every month, or after any bouts of bad weather, undertake a quick inspection of the aluminium copings to identify any signs of damage, such as dents, scratches, imperfections, or loose sections. Check for any gaps between the coping and the underlying structure to catch potential issues early on.
The Bottom Line
By following these maintenance guidelines, you can extend the lifespan of your aluminium coping and enjoy its benefits for years to come. Remember to consult professionals for major repairs or replacements to ensure the best outcomes.
