Bespoke Aluminium Fascia, Soffit & Coping Works
Kladworx were appointed to deliver a bespoke aluminium fascia, soffit and coping package at The Cambridge Arts Theatre, a prominent cultural building where the quality of external detailing was critical to the overall architectural finish.
As with many theatre projects, the building geometry and interfaces required careful consideration. The aluminium elements needed to achieve a clean, consistent appearance while also accommodating practical factors such as access, sequencing and long-term durability.
The Challenge
The Cambridge Arts Theatre required aluminium fascia, soffit and coping elements specifically designed to suit the theatre’s roof build-up and façade geometry, with particular attention to alignment and consistency across elevations, clean junctions at corners and interfaces, allowances for thermal movement, and fixing strategies appropriate to the substrate.
Our Approach
Kladworx worked closely with the project team from early design stages through to final installation. Our scope included early design development and technical input, full construction and fabrication drawings, coordination with adjacent façade and roofing works, and supply and installation of bespoke aluminium systems.
Early involvement allowed key details to be resolved before works commenced on site, reducing the likelihood of clashes or late-stage changes. All components were fully detailed and coordinated to ensure the aluminium package integrated cleanly with the wider façade works.
Delivery
Following design approval, Kladworx produced fully coordinated fabrication drawings, allowing manufacture to proceed efficiently and accurately. Installation was carried out by our in-house team, with accurate setting out, consistent shadow gaps and finishes, and safe, well-sequenced installation maintained throughout.
The Result
The completed works provide a sharp, well-resolved edge to the building and complement the architectural character of The Cambridge Arts Theatre. The bespoke approach delivered a solution tailored to the specific building, high-quality finishes across all visible elements, and a durable, low-maintenance aluminium system suitable for a public venue.
